Signs Your Viking Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• Gate motor hums but the arm doesn’t transfer motion. The weld at the motor-to-bracket joint has cracked through, usually from metal fatigue after repeated stress. The motor is fine; it’s pushing against a broken connection.
• Visible rust streaks below the arm mount. Moisture has penetrated a failing weld or the paint has cracked at the heat-affected zone. In Gilbert, this accelerates when irrigation spray hits the gate daily, which we see often in the Agritopia and Seville subdivisions.
• Arm wobbles visibly during opening or closing. The bracket has elongated bolt holes or the weld bead has separated on one side. The gate still moves but the slop is increasing, and the remaining weld is carrying double the load.

DIY or Call Us?

An owner can safely check three things: whether the gate moves freely by hand with the operator disconnected, whether the mounting bolts are tight, and whether the rust is surface-only or has penetrated through the metal. What you cannot safely do is attempt to re-weld a loaded bracket. The gate arm is under spring tension from the operator, and the bracket may be supporting several hundred pounds of gate weight. Releasing that tension incorrectly can drop the gate or snap the arm.
